I was 12 years old when I began my journey as a 6th grader at The Ethel Walker School, and I never imagined it would have such a huge impact on my life. A whole new chapter in my life was opened, maybe even a whole new book: my new life as an equestrian. When I started my riding career at Ethel Walker I entered this new world as a novice and during the next 5 years I discovered a world of hard work, challenge, connection, joy, camaraderie, passion and competitive drive. There was nowhere I would rather spend my time than at the barn and in the show ring. I soon progressed in my abilities and my respect grew for the sport, my trainers, my team members, our horses, and myself. Currently, I compete at A/AA rated shows at USEF, USHJA, NHS at 3’3’’ and 3’6’’ classes. I train at the Ethel Walker School with Linda Langmeier as well as at Kelianda Farm with Linda and McKayla Langmeier and Addy Cord. My competition highlights include:
● 2021 Qualified and competed at CHJA Medal Final, 3’3” EMO USHJA Jumping Seat Final, 3’3” USHJA Hunter Seat Medal Final and 3’3” NEHC JR Hunter Seat Medal Final
● 2021 5th place finish in CHJA Medal Final
● 2021 Top 25 in 3’3” USHJA Hunt Seat Final
● 2022 Qualified and competed at all 3’3’’ Finals
● 2022 Top 35 riders in 3’3” Hamel Foundation/NHS Final
● 2022 Top 35 riders in 3’3” NEHC JR Hunter Seat Medal Final
● 2022 Qualified and competed at Maclay Regionals and earning a spot at Maclay Finals
● 2023 Qualified for and planning to attend the Dover Saddlery USEF Medal, ASPCA Maclay Finals, 3’3” EMO USHJA Jumping Seat Final and 3’3” NEHC JR Hunter Seat Medal Final
I am a Junior at the Ethel Walker School in Simsbury, CT. I am a high honors student and am enrolled in Honors and AP classes. Even though my riding schedule is heavy, academics are a priority to me and I’ve worked hard to find a balance where both take precedence. I have earned a 4.0 GPA, and participate in a number of equestrian and nonequestrian school organizations where I’ve been selected to a leadership role. When I am not at school or at the barn I enjoy traveling, working out, and spending time with my family.
Having the opportunity to ride at the collegiate level would be a natural evolution of my high school riding career, and would be a pinnacle of my hard work, effort, focus and dedication. It would allow me to continue to grow, learn and contribute to this sport that so inspires me and that I feel passionate about. I am committed to finding the University that would allow me the opportunity to ride for an NCAA Division I Equestrian Team. My equestrian journey has influenced me as a person and instilled invaluable life skills such as discipline, patience, and a strong work ethic. I eagerly anticipate utilizing these skills to contribute significantly to my future team and University.
